A street car called “Desire”

Just few more pairs of shoes…
A lil extra of that hot chocolate sauce…
Only five more minutes in bed…
Just one more night-out with friends…
The last tequila shot…
Just ten more minutes in the arms of your beloved…
I know that’s what tempts you… excites you… That’s what you yearn for…
That’s what gives you trivial but priceless smiles…
But the world tells you not to…
It rather imposes rules of righteousness…
Righteousness: self-conceived and dictatorially universalised…
It offers you zillion tactics to curb your impulse…
It brings to fore endless precedents (treated as achievements)…
whom the world has been successful in proving guilty of being themselves…
and thus shamming them into living a life of someone else…
And you keep patting yourself on the back for caging in a black box “your freedom”…
And cheer yourself with your heroic sacrifices and self-fulfilling prophecy…
Are you not enervated of pursuing this idea of so called “Best Self”
Even if it overpowers your “Honest Self”?
Do you not strangle while imagining the moments the world never lets you live?
Are you not dissuaded on seeing a distant someone in your mirror?
Doesn’t life look like a bluff??
You get only one life…
Signboards written by someone else can’t decide your direction…
Have your share of adventures…
Be lil ignorant… lil stupid… lil confused…
And treasure the smiles, the secret gaze, the last sip, the warm hug…
For they will make it easy for you to climb the Mount Everest you were born to conquer…
And your eyelids will open to see…
A world just the way you have built it.
